Critics accuse Doupé of helping a known drug user dodge accountability and pushing American children into communist China’s grip.

Doupé represents Michael Tomoki Namba — a self-described international banker now hiding in Hong Kong, controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.

Namba hasn’t lived in the U.S. for years. He’s demanding full custody of two American citizen children despite allegations of cocaine use, unpaid child support, and financial fraud.

“Doupé is selling out these kids for a payday,” said one legal insider. “He’s shipping U.S. citizen children to communist China.”

Family Court Red Scare: China’s Legal Black Hole

Court filings confirm Namba resides in Hong Kong, now fully controlled by China’s dictatorship.

Doupé asks the Florida court to hand over custody — knowing China is not part of the Hague Convention.

The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction is an international treaty designed to protect children from parental abduction across borders. It requires member countries to return abducted children to their country of habitual residence for custody decisions.

The United States is a signatory and enforces it strictly. However, China — including Hong Kong — is not a full participant in the Hague Convention for child custody matters.

That means if Michael Namba takes the children to Hong Kong or mainland China, U.S. courts lose all power to order their return. Chinese authorities will not recognize or enforce any U.S. custody orders, effectively placing the children beyond the reach of American law.

“If Namba gets them to China, they vanish,” said one legal observer. “It’s legalized child abduction.”

The wife and protective mother’s filings accuse her estranged husband of hiding assets overseas. He submitted conflicting financial records in Florida and abroad in the Singapore courts, raising allegations of fraud and money laundering.

“He’s lying about his money, his drugs, and his residency,” said a family source. “Doupé’s just helping him launder kids now.”

Cocaine, Fraud, and Deadbeat Dad

Namba’s drug use is documented in court records. The wife alleges his cocaine addiction cost him his job in finance. Sources say Namba used cocaine even in Singapore, where the state imposes the death penalty for drug crimes.

“Namba is a cokehead who skipped child support while flying first-class,” one source said. “Doupé’s fine with it.”

Namba’s records show he hasn’t paid child support in nearly a year.

Meanwhile, the protective mom has racked up debt keeping the children in school and their Naples home.

“He refuses to pay for his own kids, but Doupé files motions calling him a ‘loving father,’” said one family friend. “It’s disgusting. If he were here, he’d be alligator food. But he’s living it up with the commies.”

Family Court Red Scare: Drug Use and Financial Evasion

Collier County, Florida court filings portray a chilling picture of Namba’s lifestyle. The estranged wife alleges Namba frequently used cocaine during their marriage and depleted marital assets on drugs and partying.

In one instance, she found white powder residue in their home. When confronted, Namba claimed it was “toothpaste from the children.”

Right. Toothpaste. His lawyers’ story isn’t much better.

The wife’s filing includes photographic evidence and testimony from Namba’s mother, who expressed concerns about his behavior.

“He needs to be careful. If he loses his job, he can’t support the kids,” his mother allegedly warned in a message attached to the court documents.

Namba, a former executive at Columbia Threadneedle Investments in Singapore, a subsidiary of Ameriprise Financial, holds financial licenses in the U.S.

The wife’s allegations about Namba’s cocaine use have added another layer of complexity. She claims his drug habits jeopardize his ability to parent.

“These behaviors demonstrate a lack of judgment and responsibility,” her filing states. “It is not in the best interest of the children to be exposed to this.”

The wife further alleges he misled both U.S. and Singapore courts about his assets. She claims he maintained undeclared offshore accounts to shield wealth from child support obligations.

This dishonesty could affect the court proceedings and jeopardize Namba’s financial licensure.

In Florida, filing fraudulent documents with the court is a serious offense that can lead to both civil and criminal penalties. Under Florida Statutes § 837.06, anyone who knowingly makes a false statement in a written declaration filed in court commits perjury by false written declaration, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Additionally, Florida’s Rule of Judicial Administration 2.515 requires attorneys to certify that filings are truthful, legally supported, and not presented for improper purposes. Violations can result in sanctions, including monetary penalties, attorney discipline, and possible disbarment.

Fraudulent filings can also trigger contempt of court charges and permanently damage a party’s credibility in the case.

The “Deadbeat Strategy” in Action

Critics say Attorney Doupé’s approach enables wealthy clients like Namba to sidestep financial responsibilities. According to filings in Singapore and Naples, Florida, Doupé’s client has submitted contrary numbers in two different courts. Namba’s aggrieved wife says he is being dishonest about assets, while Doupé is filing motions to delay payments and claim false financial hardships.

The court filings show Doupé represents Namba in the present Naples case and was an expert witness in the Singapore matter, where contradictory financial disclosures were made.

She believes Namba’s lawyers know he dishonestly structures his finances to create an “illusion of poverty.”

Meanwhile, Namba owns multiple international luxury properties, travels internationally to Thailand, and enjoys an extravagant lifestyle.

The aggrieved wife says that Namba has not regularly paid child support since she and the children were forced to flee Singapore in October 2023 for fear of his cocaine use.

Family Court Red Scare: Is Attorney Reuben Doupé a Communist Sympathizer?

Legal experts question Doupé’s ethics — accusing him of helping a deadbeat dad abduct kids into China’s communist regime.

“What lawyer in their right mind sends American children into communist China?” said one critic. “Doupé should lose his license.”

Multiple sources say Doupé advised Namba to starve the wife financially — holding back support to break her.

“That’s illegal and unethical,” a Naples lawyer said. “He’s endangering these kids.”

The wife’s filings argue that Namba plans to take the kids to China permanently, so the U.S. court will lose all jurisdiction.

“Doupé is helping China steal these kids,” said another source. “That’s treasonous.”

The mother’s parish priest filed a letter supporting her. He praised the devoted mother fighting to raise her children Catholic — while Namba abandoned them.

“She is an outstanding mother,” the priest wrote. “These children belong here.”

The church says the mother borrowed money just to keep the children in Catholic school — while Namba traveled and partied overseas.

“Michael Namba needs to find Jesus. Or else he’ll burn in the flames of hell with the rest of the communists,” said a family source.

Family Court Red Scare: Will the Florida Bar Act?

Critics are calling on the Florida Bar to investigate Doupé. Many say his actions violate ethical rules and endanger U.S. citizen children.

“This isn’t lawyering — it’s human trafficking,” said one veteran lawyer. “Doupé’s breaking his oath.”

Dear Florida Bar and Florida Courts Press Offices,

We are investigative journalists working on a story involving Florida attorney Reuben A. Doupé and his law firm Coleman, Taylor, Klaus, Doupé, Diaz & Torrez, P.A. based in Naples, Florida. The story involves serious allegations of potential ethical misconduct, child endangerment, and possible violations of Florida Bar ethical rules.

Specifically, Mr. Doupé is representing Michael Tomoki Namba, a father living in Hong Kong, now under Chinese Communist Party control. Court records confirm that Mr. Doupé is seeking custody of two U.S. citizen children — who reside in Florida with their mother — and is attempting to relocate them to Hong Kong, a non-Hague Convention jurisdiction.

The mother has raised credible allegations of Mr. Namba’s cocaine abuse, financial fraud, and failure to pay child support.

Given the gravity of these allegations, I respectfully request The Florida Bar’s position on the following:

1. Ethics and Child Welfare

  • Is it ethical for a Florida attorney to assist in removing U.S. citizen children to a non-Hague jurisdiction where Florida custody orders will be unenforceable?
  • Does The Florida Bar consider aiding in placing children with a parent facing credible drug abuse allegations a violation of the duty to protect children’s best interests?

2. Withholding Child Support as a Strategy

  • Is it a Bar violation for an attorney to advise or encourage a client to withhold child support to financially pressure the other parent?
  • Could this conduct violate Rule 4-4.4(a) of the Rules of Professional Conduct regarding unnecessary harm or burden?

3. Jurisdiction Shopping and Potential Misconduct

  • Does The Florida Bar view Mr. Doupé’s attempt to secure custody jurisdiction in Hong Kong — a Chinese-controlled region with no Hague protections — as an ethical issue?
  • Would such conduct constitute “jurisdiction shopping” designed to defeat U.S. court authority?

4. Misconduct and Disciplinary Action

  • Could facilitating international child removal that strips U.S. courts of jurisdiction warrant discipline or disbarment?
  • Would enabling a drug-using, non-supporting parent to gain custody abroad violate Rule 4-8.4 (Misconduct)?

5. Public Interest and National Security

  • Is the Florida Bar concerned that this case, if successful, places American children in the control of the Chinese Communist Party, raising human rights and national security issues?

6. Complaint Process and Next Steps

  • Will the Florida Bar open a formal investigation into Mr. Doupé’s actions based on these facts?
  • How can impacted parties or members of the public file complaints against Mr. Doupé or his firm?
  • Will the Bar commit to public transparency regarding any review or investigation of these allegations?

Given the significant public interest and potential international implications, we would appreciate your response as soon as possible so we may include the same in our upcoming coverage. If we receive your responses after press time, we will include the information in a follow-up.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. we look forward to your response.

The fear is simple: If Doupé wins, other deadbeat dads will copy the scheme — flee to China, stop paying, then use shady lawyers to grab the kids.

“The bar needs to wake up,” a source said. “Or more American kids will be lost to China.”

Family Court Red Scare: Doupé Crosses the Red Line?

Family courts should protect children — not help deadbeat dads and communist regimes.

“Reuben Doupé is a disgrace,” one critic said. “He’s a mercenary lawyer shipping U.S. kids to China.”

Michael Namba’s own words in court filings admit his ties to Hong Kong. The stakes couldn’t be higher.

“These kids are Americans,” a family member said. “They deserve freedom — not life under China’s boot.”
