Naples, FL – The Knights of Columbus Council 10757 will host its inaugural golf outing at the Tiburon Golf Club on June 6, 2024. The tournament will feature NFL Great Dave Wannstedt as the guest speaker. The event aims to raise funds for Naples charities supporting the homeless, food shelters, and abused women and children. Beneficiaries include The Shelter for Abused Women & Children, St. Vincent DePaul, and Catholic Charities.

Wannstedt, a former head coach of the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears, and current FOX football analyst, is also a member of Tiburon. Event host and organizer Ernie Verrico, currently the council’s Deputy Grand Knight, expressed excitement about the event’s support.

“We are extremely excited to have so much support for this event. Tiburon Golf Club has been great, as well as Coach Wannstedt and too many others to name. Through this generous support, we can continue helping Catholic ministries and others in need in our community. Vivat Jesus,” said Verrico.

Key sponsors include Naples Heart Rhythm Specialist, P.A., Porsche Naples, Manhattan Construction, Tony Reyes Family Foundation, Clarity Wealth, and Osteria Tulia. Naples Heart Rhythm Specialist, P.A. is the lead sponsor, with Porsche Naples offering a 2024 Porsche Taycan as the hole-in-one prize.

Dave Wannstedt’s extensive football career includes coaching the Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, and the University of Pittsburgh. He started as an assistant coach under Jimmy Johnson at the University of Pittsburgh and later at the Dallas Cowboys. Wannstedt was the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys when they won the Super Bowl in 1992.

NFL Great Dave Wannstedt’s tenure as head coach of the Chicago Bears began in 1993. He led the Bears to one playoff appearance in six seasons. After leaving the Bears, he joined the Miami Dolphins, becoming head coach in 2000. Wannstedt guided the Dolphins to two playoff appearances. He later coached the University of Pittsburgh, where he emphasized recruiting and led the team to several bowl games.

After a brief stint with the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Wannstedt transitioned to broadcasting and became a FOX Sports football analyst. Wannstedt is married and has two daughters and six grandchildren. He splits his residence between Chicago and Naples, FL. In his free time, he enjoys golf and spending time with his grandchildren.
